Dearytale Terms of Service
Effective: November 1, 2026 (v2026-11-01)
- Write a diary entry and AI turns it into an illustrated fairy tale that arrives the next morning.
- Your diary and your tales belong to you. Dearytale uses them only as much as the service needs.
- Tales are made by AI, so they may differ from your diary or look a little odd in places.
- Subscriptions are paid through the App Store or Google Play and can be cancelled at any time.
1. Purpose
These Terms set out the rights, duties and responsibilities between WoodK ("Dearytale", "we") and you when you use the Dearytale app and related services (the "Service").
2. Definitions
- You: a person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service
- Diary: text you write in the app
- Tale: text and pictures created by AI from your diary
- Shelf: a diary and tale book that share the same main character, art style and village
- Tale count: each subscription plan sets how many tales you can create per month
3. Posting and changes
These Terms are always available in the app's Settings and on our website.
We may change these Terms within the limits of the law. We will announce the changes and their effective date in the app at least 7 days in advance (30 days if the change is unfavorable to you).
If you do not agree to the changed Terms, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.
4. Sign-up
You sign up by signing in with an Apple or Google account and agreeing to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 14 years old (or the minimum age required in your country to consent to data processing, if higher). We may delete accounts found to belong to younger users.
We may restrict use if you sign up with someone else's account or provide false information.
5. The Service
- Writing and saving diary drafts
- AI creates an illustrated tale from your diary and delivers it at the morning time you choose
- Shelves, calendar and search
- Saving tales as images and sharing them (links and shared reading)
Tales are made overnight after you send your diary and delivered at the time you set. They may be late when demand is high or a problem occurs; we will let you know in the app.
We may change or add features to improve the Service, and will give advance notice of important changes.
6. An AI-powered service
The text and pictures of each tale are created by AI (artificial intelligence): text by Anthropic's Claude, pictures by FLUX models on Cloudflare Workers AI.
AI may misunderstand your diary, draw scenes that were not in it, or produce awkward pictures. We review each tale once more with AI, but the result is not perfect.
Tales and exported images carry a mark saying they were made with AI.
Tales are not a substitute for counseling or treatment. For diaries describing hard times, we show where you can get help.
7. Rights to diaries and tales
Your diaries, the tales made from them, and characters you create yourself belong to you to the extent the law allows.
We use them only as needed to provide the Service: storing them, creating and reviewing tales and pictures, and showing them to people you invite to read along.
We use a tale to introduce Dearytale (such as the 'Dearytale Library' on our website or Instagram) only when you give separate permission for that tale. You may withdraw permission at any time.
The default characters, villages and app design belong to Dearytale. You may use them freely in your own tales and share them on your personal social media, but you may not sell them or make products from them without our permission.
8. Your obligations
- Do not write content that violates others' privacy or personal information, or defames anyone
- Do not write illegal content (such as non-consensual intimate images, child sexual abuse material or plans for crimes)
- Do not sell tales made with others' copyrighted works without permission
- Do not disrupt the Service or send mass requests with automated programs
If you break these rules, we may suspend your use or delete your account after notice. In urgent cases we may suspend first and notify you right away.
9. Free trial and subscriptions
When you sign up, you can create 3 tales as a free trial within your first month. After the trial you can keep reading and exporting your tales; creating new tales requires a subscription.
Plans (tales per month) and prices are shown on the subscription screen. Payment is made through the App Store or Google Play, and subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled.
A month starts on your billing date. Unused tales do not carry over. Yearly plans also get a new tale count every month.
The price, automatic renewal and how to cancel are shown on the subscription screen before you pay.
10. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next payment, and you can keep using the Service until the end of the period already paid for.
If you have not made any tale with a subscription within 7 days of payment, you may cancel that payment (withdrawal). Once you have started creating tales with it, withdrawal may be limited; we tell you this before you pay.
For both monthly and yearly plans, cancelling mid-term stops renewal but does not refund the remaining period.
Refunds follow the policies and procedures of the app store you paid through. If you could not use the Service due to our fault, we will return those tales or help you get a refund through the app store.
If the consumer protection laws of your country give you additional rights, those rights apply.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. If you cannot use the app, you may also request deletion by email.
Deleting your account immediately and permanently deletes your diaries, tales, pictures, shelves and badges. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, so please cancel it in your app store first.
12. Suspension and termination
We may pause the Service temporarily for maintenance, failures, network problems or natural disasters, with advance notice when possible.
If we must end the Service, we will give 30 days' notice and let you download your tales in that time. Remaining subscription periods will be refunded through the app store.
13. Liability
We are liable under the law for damage we cause you intentionally or negligently.
We are not liable for damage caused by your breach of these Terms, problems with your device or network, or events we could not prevent, except where the law does not allow such exclusion.
You are responsible for what you write in your diary and for sharing tales made from it with others.
14. Disputes
Please send questions or complaints to hello@dearytale.com. We reply within 7 business days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes are resolved by the court determined under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. This does not take away mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.

Effective date
